The Polytechnic of Coimbra and New Organic Planet have established a protocol that aims to reinforce technical, scientific and human cooperation between the two institutions. The protocol was signed today, April 8, in the Room of Acts of the Central Services of the IPC, by Jorge Conde, president of the Polytechnic of Coimbra and Paula Simões and Luís Albano, representatives of New Organic Planet.
For Jorge Conde, this association can be an asset for the Polytechnic of Coimbra, which has several courses related to the agri-food area, namely organic farming and biotechnology. “Our students can find financing paths here that leverage business projects to which they want to dedicate themselves”, explains the person in charge.
New Organic Planet is a company that develops projects related to the bio agri-food sector, and promotes the R&D of products or processes that aim to improve this sector, with the objective of increasing scientific production and promoting research practices in the sense of developing new products and new businesses in the Agriculture, Industry and Research sectors. Within this scope, they develop three programs: the IncuBio develops projects that are in embryonic stages, the BioDeveloper it is dedicated to R&D which, through partnerships with public and private institutions, develops joint projects and BioFunding concentrates the process of financing projects that are in more advanced stages.
With this partnership, it is intended to promote research and development projects within the scope of the program BioDeveloper, contribute to the dissemination of information that leads to the development of projects within the scope of the programs IncuBio and BioFunding and to promote the approximation between the university, research and associative environments with the business environment. The cooperation protocol includes carrying out actions to publicize these programs, alongside mutual participation in seminars, workshops and public initiatives.
